The Department of Painting started its program in the 1983 – 84 academic year, it offers courses both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The all tutorials are delivered in Turkish language. The department consists of one pattern workshop, three painting workshops, print workshops, ambient oriented art workshop, basic art education workshop, graduate workshop, one theoretical classroom, conference hall and exhibition hall. The workshops have an average of twenty-five people and there are 15 students per instructor.

In our program, art works are carried out based on the requirements of the workshop system. Within the scope of painting workshops, the department offers special courses like Visual Formation and Experimental Art which responses to contemporary art dynamics. In addition, oral presentation, research and discussion methods are used in theoretical studies. Our department has sufficient equipment and software programs that enable us to use all visual materials and interactive applications in both applied and theoretical courses. Panels, seminars, conferences, and exhibitions are organized throughout the year in order to create resources for applied courses. These events are given regularly by experts in the field.
